Homes in the Making

Tillamook County Chapter of Habitat for Humanity - At the moment these are the only folks who are building truly affordable housing in the County, including a couple in the Nehalem Bay area.  And they do it one at a time with volunteers and private donations.  Check out what they've got going in Bay City right now. They also do a great job of mentoring their families.   NeahCasa  almost had a joint project come together with Habitat for Humanity on land in Manzanita next to Cartm Recycling the County was considering donating but it was not to be.

NeahKahNie School District - now has a hands-on experiential building trades program that is building a house from the ground up.  The house will be sold at market rate to support the program.  Not exactly affordable housing but a great program nontheless and one that will serve the community well in the long run.

NeahCasa intends to be building and acquiring land and homes that are truly affordable for ordinary people who live and work in the Nehalem Bay community.     We have several possible projects in the exploration stages but only one we can talk about yet - and it is in very preliminary stages with a lot of pieces that still need to come together.

Our dream is to have this page will be filled with projects!  Here's what we're trying to get going so far:

Nehalem 10th Street Land

NeahCasa Board members, Kelly Benson and Tom Bender, here in July 2007, envisioning new houses on the Nehalem 10th Street Land.  Kelly, herself, Manzanita Branch Manager for US Bank, would qualify for one.
