Serving the Nehalem Bay area

When the subject of housing affordability first comes up in our coastal communities, it appears to be a tangle of impossibly complicated issues too difficult to unravel. It is tempting as mere mortals to throw up our hands in despair.

Yet, NeahCasa has been pulling gently on each thread since early 2005 and we are finding that if we want it to, the whole tangle has the potential to sort out into win/win solutions for us all.

This website is about both the challenges and some potential solutions, both locally and beyond. Not all will work in any one place, but taken together they provide a broad enough scope for some new perspectives and can help us move towards truly sustainable communities.

Not everyone sees it the way we do - in fact, some of the political powers that be, both locally and beyond, are hesitant to admit there is a problem. But we need to see beyond our differences. We need to work together with open minds and open hearts.
