Salaries Needed to Live & Work in Tillamook County

This chart was put together by Jim Tierney, Deputy Director of Community Action Team in St. Helens, Oregon, who has been involved in building affordable housing for over 25 years in Columbia, Clatsop and Tillamook Counties.

NeahCasa's primary home ownership market is the yellow highlighted areas below. Incomes higher than that can access conventional mortgages.   Lower incomes (pink/red) can't afford ownership, and are assisted with rental programs, some of them public ones.

The rule of thumb is that residents should pay no more than 30% of their income for housing. The actual cost of homes for sale needs to be kept within the ranges clients can get mortgages for. Funding comes through a variety of sources depending on the individual applicant's qualifications and the funds available in different programs.

Our expectation on range of home needs is roughly 20% single, 40% families without kids, 40% families with kids.
